Homeless or Hipster?

I sat across from this man on BART on my way home this evening.

He had on tight pants with a few well-placed paint splats, a Native American-inspired knit sweater and a pair of Nikes, mini keg in tow, all of which would suggest hipster. But he was also a bit smelly, nearly toothless and singing to himself, which leads me to conclude homeless. My favorite part of this whole situation, though, is the sign he’s sitting under, imploring me to befriend him. I must admit I was tempted to introduce myself to this gentleman. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want this guy on their team?

San Francisco Stereotype Alert: Nancy Pelosi's Husband Buys Her Clothes!

Nancy Pelosi is married to a meterosexual! Or homosexual! I mean, do you really think the HBiC could be married to a man who isn’t doing it with other men? Who knows, who cares, best “news” “story” EVER. If my husband was buying my clothes and styling the shit out of me, the least I could do in return is let him do it with other men. Of course, I get to watch and at the same time, he should be feeding me pizza and keeping my trough of dark and stormy’s full. Also, FOOT MASSAGES! Cathy, CAN I GET A WITNESS!? You know what I’m talking about, girl.

Vintage Expo at the Concourse today!

As was the case with 50% off day at Community Thrift, I am semi-reluctant to tell the legions of Uptown Almanac readers about the Vintage Expo today, for fear of fierce competition for all the good shit. Unfortunately though, I know I’m too broke to do any real shopping damage today, so I welcome the rivalry from my fellow vintage and retro devotees!

The Vintage Expo is held at the Concourse (635 8th Street x Brannan) until 5pm today. Admission is $10, but students get in free with school ID. There’ll be 80ish vendors with clothing, textiles, jewelry and accessories spanning from the Victorian era to the seventies. From what I’ve heard, prices are steep but the selection is well-edited. More info is on the official website.

50% off all clothing at Community Thrift today

As is true on all third Mondays of each month, all clothing at Community Thrift (17th & Valencia) is 50% off today. I waited to post about it until I got to all the cool shit first … sorry, readers.

Go stock up on summer clothes so you can look as adorable as this couple.

Also, half off on everything day is coming up! April 5th. Get ready.

Hipster sighting on the playground side of Dolores Park!

Or rather, a pupster - the only breed of hipster courageous enough to cross over the pavement into the perilous land of hacky sack-juggling Burners and Speedo-ed gentlemen getting their tan on. But, all Dolores Park social microcosms aside, Bailey is the most adorable little dog, and the joy he brought me totally made up for a horrible morning of navigating my way home through hordes of loud suburban dudes drinking green beer. And if a dog can lead me to forgive bros … who knows? Perhaps the key to enduring Mission - Marina peace is no further than a dressed up Jack Russell Terrier.
