Blantant Theft of Four Barrel's Boar Head Confirms Coffee Drinkers "Just Don't Give a Fuck"

The laughing at the end of the video suggests this was some sort of April Fools' prank, although the video was uploaded to the You Tubes on March 31st.  No matter; the fact that a bunch of fancy coffee drinkers will literally just stand around as a bunch of dapper white dudes sporting ski masks climb a ladder and lift a dead beast of the wall, waiting for a barista to get involved, pretty much screams “open season on coffee shop artwork” amirite?

Waffle House

My friend Isaiah, he's from Tucson, made a rap video that looks like what it would look like if the internet threw up on your dreams. Actually he made the rap song with Max B and Rapewolf, Carne and Queso did the crazy graphics. I guess it's kinda NSFW if your work opposes smoking babies and total recall titties.

Talking Meat

This video is a tad old, so please excuse our tardiness in delivering it to you.  But it's the product of Mission District resident Shion Takeuchi, and I can't help but be smitten with the idea of a bunch of blathering slabs of meat.

Do give it a watch.

New Youtube Series "American Hipster" Is Coming To Further Commodify Your Lifestyle

The trailer for new Youtube series “American Hipster” doesn't really give us much to go on, but at first glance it looks pretty terrible. More than that, it actually looks sort of boring. The series comes to us by way of Seedwell, which launches “viral video” campaigns for totally hipster corporations like Microsoft, Foster Farms and T-Mobile. So, you know, I'm sure they've totally got their finger on the pulse of this unique, creative lifestyle.

I anticipate a lot of aerial shots of SF, up-close shots of espresso being poured in Four Barrel, girls messing with their bangs and probably some weak analogies comparing hipsters with the beat generation which are bound to make us all cringe. This series serves more to evidence the fact that we're way beyond the point where being a “hipster” has anything to do with fringe or alternative culture. It's just white noise at this point. If you can handle all the tired cliches of flannel and thick-rimed frames, it could be good for an eye-roll or two.

SF Giants Film Disappointing Commercial in the Mission

Not going to lie, I'm wicked disappointed in this ad.  Back in February, I was promised the Giants were filming their 2012 season commercial in the neighborhood, but it looks like much of it wound up on the cutting room floor:

Sure, Willy’s Barbershop, Nice & Clean Laundromat, Mission Ink, and Clarion Alley all make appearances.  But where's the promised shots of Giants fans scarffing down burrito in Taqueria Cancun?  Or perhaps Tim Lincecum chowing down with Ganja Treats? And isn't that Russian Hill in one of the shots? Gross.

At least they're incorporating the old Sparks branding into their 2012 artwork:

Gutter Punks Found Defending Local Luxury Food Market From Thievery

“The Hunter S. Thompson of Dolores”, the dude known for thieving bottles of wine from Bi-Rite, 'messed with the wrong kids' and got pushed out of the park/had his wine confiscated by some displaced Haight Street gnargles.  While the scene was insanely uncomfortable, the irony—oh, the irony—is just too rich.

[And as I sat there finding myself sympathizing with the Haight St. businesses that pushed Sit/Lie—and wondering when we're going to overturn that damn law so the gnargles will go back—I couldn't help but feel the Mission has come a long way from MDC.]

Ever Wonder What It'd Be Like To Fly Around San Francisco?

Videographer Robert McIntosh filmed this stunning aerial video of San Francisco on his last trip here, which somehow escaped our attention for 5 months. According to the the Vimeo comments, it looks like he shot the footage using only a quadrocopter and a GoPro. Aside from the unreal camera angles, the whole thing has a sort of dreamy, ephemeral feel to it; it’s the kind of thing you’d like to see when you close your eyes before falling asleep at night. The parts over the Legion of Honor and George Sterling Park are my favorite.

The video really speaks for itself so my commentary isn’t really needed, but it’s definitely worth five minutes, headphones, and fullscreen.
