Plastered to the exterior of the Elbo Room, the above flyer promising that an In-N-Out is “coming soon” to the location plays on the very real chance that the venue will soon be replaced by condos.
Pitting fans of the much-hyped burger chain against those fighting to keep San Francisco’s venues open is perhaps the perfect April Fools’ Day troll.

That was put up today, definitely April Fools. Anyhow, my understanding is that this space has nothing to do with the Elbo Room building, other than adjacency. It was a furniture store that burned out (fifteen years ago?). I’ve always been surprised they’ve let it lie fallow for so long. It had a dirt floor for years, then they put in cement a year or two ago, then no follow up. Cheap owners not willing to spend money to make money? Part of the problem with Prop 13 for commercial property …

At least it would be affordable.

That’s not very original as far as April Fool’s pranks go. It’s been done to death over the last few years. Somehow I doubt there’s really any underlying political commentary here.
