What'd This Poor Fucking Bear Ever Do to You?

Corinna sent this my way yesterday with no explanation or anything.  NADA.  So, I started digging through the UA archives to make sure I didn’t equate women to Pol Pot when I stumbled across this: @mike_ftw giving this pleasantly welcoming paper bear a goddamn rimjob.  Okay, just another meme-in-progress.  No worries there.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure bears cannot be sexist.  Don’t think they have the mental faculties to be haters.  Pretty certain bears just eat trash, nap a lot, and occasionally make babies.  Sounds like college.

San Francisco Tried to Ban Guns and That Worked So Well That It's Now Open Season on 22nd

Lone Palm is a terrific place to get inappropriately drunk and pass out on the bathroom floor, but I always felt it lacked that ‘Wild West’ charm that one would expect from a place that accepts credit cards as a legitimate form of payment.  Well shit, I was reading Rio Yañez’s blog and peeped this: a set of photographs proving that handguns are ‘totally cool’ at both Lone Palm and The Rite Spot Cafe.  This is incredible news because my Ruger 50th Anniversary Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum Revolver totally matches my new American Apparel “THIS IS WHAT A FEMINIST LOOKS LIKE” hoodie.

Scott Meets Family Circus

Yeah, this has absolutely nothing to do with San Francisco but there is jack shit for posts in the “Art - The Canvas” category and I had a good time reading this while eating leftover pizza.  Enjoy.

Local Artist "Brings It" For Babies

Now that we’ve brought you the truly horrific side of babies, I will ease our pain with some truly whimsical shit.  A nursery mural created by San Francisco artist, Michael Reed. Totoro! The golden gate! Worlds colliding! I can’t handle it! This kid is extremely lucky and will grow up to be more than alright and I’ll be the first to ask what everyone is thinking: BABY, WILL YOU MARRY ME?

(Thanks, Kristina! More detailed pics here. Oooh, you should also check out this rad woodcut Reed did for local dog saving superheroes, Rocket Dog Rescue.)

Sirron Norris

I was imagining this as the first of dozens of Thomas Kinkade-esque Sirron Norris galleries around the country. Turns out, according to his website, it might be a one-of-a-kind spot featuring the man himself, cartooning lessons for the children, and a 3D video game where you walk around in of his paintings. Whoa. Spotted on Valencia & 25th; opens early February. Ball’s in your court, Jeremy Fish.

iLife: What the Fuck Man?

I don’t remember adding this untitled blog to my RSS reader but, hey, there it is and I kinda dig it. (more)

Some favorite excerpts from my NO WAY OUT BUT I GOTTA’ GET OUT zine. Maybe I’ll get around to actually making copies of this one? Sod Wiz flier from a couple of weeks ago (note the Old English ‘at’ symbol, I thought I was funny for a second…), and the return of the I Hope You Drop Your iPhone in a Public Toilet b.s. that I drew when I was super hungover at the coffee shop by my place, now scanned and legible for the world wide web.

Posters and DJ's

This post is long because I don’t know how to work this janky ass visual basic looking blog so fuck it here is some shit to do this weekend

Friday night over at Lower Haters the Burlesque folks are going to be showing their fancy ass artwork so if you want to see some sheets of paper with colors on them go there. It’s the opening party so they also got dj’s King Most, Enki, Platurn, and also Mike2600 of Burlesque will be spinning and his is good at not playing shitty music. Mike is also playing over at Triple Crown Saturday night for the Jinder show. I think it’s gonna be disco house type shit. I don’t fucking know, I aint about that shit but Mike is my dude so I support his ass.

If you don’t want to fuck with swedish disco house holler at Tormenta Tropical. Jess Jubilee is coming down to play some fucking bullshit music, hopefully she breaks out some miami bass but who knows maybe she will play dancey dance. Tormenta is probably my favorite party in the city. Last month Dj Panik blew my mind with some weird ass mexican dance music. The only way I can describe it is that it sounded like the music you hear when you listen to the radio out of Juarez, Mexico while you drive through El Paso at four in the morning and they are justing pummeling your barely awake brain with the weirdest balls to the walls mexican rave music. Panik took it there and I wasn’t sure I was ready to go there but it worked. But fuck all that what I’m really about though are those texas rap cumbia remixes, I lose my shit to that, it fucking bangs. I fuck with that shit hard, cumbia and dallas rap are a perfect blend of sounds. Nothing like getting buck to some accordians. Jess probably won’t play that but fuck it, Oro11 and Disco Shawn bring the cumbia electro turbo bass vibes. Pretty much one of very few reasons to go to the Elbo room.

If you want to rumble there is a DRI show at Slims on saturday so you can fuck with that. I may or may not be there pushing kids around.

Floating with Boltron

I was digging around Flickr for some non-Mission District pools to join when I stumbled across this snap by Nate Bolt (boltron).  Turns out he has a whole mess of these shots and he’s best friends with Mary Poppins, the cast of Heroes, Blade, and that guy who walks around Dolores Park with a wizard staff selling acid.
