Remember back when we laughed at a completely ludicrous protest of NIMBY neighbors claiming that making cellphones work in the northwest corner of the Mission would hurt the children? Well, guess what, the protest actually fucking worked. In spite of the fact there is no scientific proof backing their claims that the celltower would cause you to turn into a swamp monster, T-Mobile backed down and withdrew their permit application.
From known neighborhood troll Gideon Kramer:
As you may know, T-Mobile applied for a permit to install a cell phone tower in the spire of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 3281 16th St., across from Mission Dolores. Neighbors very concerned about the adverse health effects of radiofrequency microwave emissions from cellphone towers (see www.discoverrealanswers.com/Cell_Towers.shtml if interested in learning more) [ED NOTE: Any site that is called “Discover Real Answers” or “RON PAUL FORUMS” and ends in .shtml IS NOT TO BE FUCKING TRUSTED], especially in the vicinity of so many schools as we have here in the Mission Dolores neighborhood, protested, and did so successfully.
We just learned that T-Mobile has withdrawn its application. Congratulations to all who made this happen.
Congratulations to all who made this happen. You're all officially tools. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to smoke a parliament, drink Jameson all night, eat fast food, microwave a frozen dinner, call someone on my cellphone without using a headset, sit out in the sun without a shirt on all day, and cover myself in bugspray because I heard it was going to be a really bad year for mosquitos.
Signed,
One of your precious fucking children

Well duh. It’s not like non-crackpots spend all their time putting on tinfoil hats and going to “community” meetings.
Too bad these things never come to a vote.

Ah fake science. The tonic of NIMBY bullshitters everywhere!

There’s a tower planned on Lapidge St, they’ve got the pole in the ground but no hardware installed yet. Not sure how that would improve Dolores Park service, but it’s only 3 blocks away.

BRO HOLD ON MY CALL JUST DROPPED

hopefully this was a stealth protest to block T-Mobile so that AT&T could swoop in and put up a frakking tower so my iPhone might actually work in my house….

I don’t get it. All these kids they want to protect in school have cell phones with them all the time texting their BFFs constantly. Now with the towers farther away those phones will be transmitting at their maximum power level, instead of the lowest level if would need if they were communicating with a nearby tower.
Haven’t they ever heard of the INVERSE SQUARE LAW?
Maybe instead of protesting they should be READING A FUCKING PHYSICS TEXTBOOK or something.
Anyway, the good news is: Tmobile is installing microcells on PG&E utility poles. Apparently, they don’t need any special permits for this, and they’re going up all over. So while the technically retarded are out there protesting one tower, Tmo is going ahead and installing more and more utility pole based ones. (If you know what to look for, they’re all over the Mission).

I just looked again at http://www.discoverrealanswers.com/Cell_Towers.shtml and THEY ARE SELLING “CHIPS” YOU PUT IN YOUR PHONE TO ELIMINATE MICROWAVE RADIATION. Complete proof of what crackpots they are…. they’re just trying to make a buck.
For every smart person in SF there seem to be 2 or 3 amazingly stupid ones.

att has to do something. if it’s a nice day or evening it would seem that every clown in the neighborhood is in the park uploading videos to youtube from their iPhones…and I can’t talk on the phone without the call being dropped every minute. f’in NIMBYs.
