The San Francisco Business Times reports the Dogpatch is the city’s hot new neighborhood, thanks to its abundance of warehouses with “concrete floors, sandblasted wood and skylights.” It even has a new nickname! One business owner dropped it in an interview, telling the Business Times, “We have really liked the ‘patch.”

I would live there, over the mission, in a second if rent wasn’t some of the worst in this city, not that i can really move anywhere except Bayview or the Excelsior at this point however. Maybe the proximity to the 22nd street Caltrain?

Just to add, if any of you haven’t kept up with how insane rent has gotten, I would recommend checking out craigslist for a 2bedroom in Potrero Hill / Dogpatch area. It’s really something to chuckle over. I mean at some of these prices you could purchase a house much nicer than what the rent is going for. I just don’t even understand the economics of what’s happening.

I spoke to a realtor last week and he said that he meets/ deals with a lot of young professionals who make 200k and receive signing bonus as well some as high as 80k. But they aren’t ready to invest and buy property so they rent. They have excess income so rent has moved higher much more than it would just based on population increases. It is a werid scenario that is unique to the bay area.

It’s really incredible. I’m in the process of checking out places to live, with the goal being a 2 bedroom. So far it’s the neighborhoods I’ve discussed, and the outer sunset. I keep trying to convince the gf it’s time to move to Oakland, but eh she’s not buying it

That entire Business Times piece makes me think of a bar with too much lighting, a foosball table that is never empty, a television that only plays Family Guy, a Gamecube in the corner, and nothing but Miller Lite on tap.
Welcome to The Patch, your home away from home in ’Frisco.
