If you haven't heard about the mural project going on at Haight and Laguna, the Examiner had a pretty good writeup a couple of weeks ago:
Called “Love in the Lower Haight,” the mural by the Lower Haight Mural Collective will stretch 100 feet up Haight Street from Laguna Street and 75 feet on Laguna.
The mural is meant to increase the identity of the neighborhood and showcase local artistic talent on a wall that is often covered in graffiti, said Thea Selby, president of the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighborhood Association.
“We are different than surrounding neighborhoods,” Selby said. “We’re heavily invested in art. Visitors will be able to see this and we will be able to bring the community together.” [full story]
I really don't see how their being “heavily invested in the arts” makes them different than surrounding 'hoods, you know, like the Mission or the TL. But hey, more murals in The City is a great thing, and the pics uploaded yesterday by “saucemeisterq” indicate that this mural is shaping up quite nicely.
