Pablo Sandoval's Sports Car Gets Benched on Valencia

Signaling Valencia Street has become our generation's Sunset Boulevard, an Uptown Almanac reader sent us pics of Pablo Sandoval broken down outside of Limon, forced to open up the hood of his ridiculous sports car like a pathetic commoner and beg the nearest Hummer Jeep driver to give his battery a jump.

Really, All we need is for Randi Zuckerberg to snort some black tar heroin and violently overdose in her brother's arms outside of Elbo Room and the transformation will be complete.

(Meanwhile:)

Rain or Shine, Mission Street Brings It After the NLCS

Despite the ill-timed rain and generally garbage New York weather, Mission Street threw down with hours of horn-honking, flag-waiving, high-fiving screaming tonight.  Perhaps just a taste of the action we saw in 2010, but celebratory mood was nothing short of contagious. There were even a few SFPD riot cops out there blocking traffic and celebrating the victory!

Of course, there was one grumpy officer—who was forced to ride his undeniably sick hog in the rain—that issued stern warnings to motorists honking their horns…

…but fuck that guy.  Go Giants!

(Oh, and if you really want to get into the vibe, here's 20 minutes of audio from 24th and Mission:)

Giants in the Parklet

When I first saw these two guys chillin' in Fabric8's parklet watching game 6, my gut reaction was “of course someone's watching the Giants in a parklet” and started uncontrollably foaming at the mouth with shitty hipster jokes.  But, really, these guys have it all figured out.  Comfy bean bags, a heat lamp keeping them warm, reclaimed wood everywhere, easy bike parking… it's really the idyllic venue for baseball.  Plus, given how this torrential rainmageddon situation is playing out, the parklet should give you primo access to tonight street-side celebrations.

Ed Lee to Plant Dodgers Fans in AT&T Park for Upcoming Series

Ed Lee is trying to curb the centuries-old tradition of hurling peanuts, beer, and obscenities at fans of the visiting team, according to the SF Examiner:

Giants fans, try not to hassle that Los Angeles Dodgers fan braving this weeks games at AT&T Park. He or she might be a cop.

Undercover officers are donning gear from the hated Dodgers during the current three-game series in an effort to enforce civility and prevent episodes like the one last year at Dodger Stadium in which Giants fan Bryan Stow was beaten until he was comatose.

Certainly the rivalry between the Giants and the Dodgers is as hot as its ever been, Mayor Ed Lee said. We want to do everything possible that we can to make our city continue to be safe.

Seems unnecessary considering how civil Giants fans are (except towards city infrastructure during a successful playoff season, of course).  Where does Ed think he is?  Oakland?

Anyway, I suppose I'll be leaving my nail-spiked bat at home…

SF Giants Film Disappointing Commercial in the Mission

Not going to lie, I'm wicked disappointed in this ad.  Back in February, I was promised the Giants were filming their 2012 season commercial in the neighborhood, but it looks like much of it wound up on the cutting room floor:

Sure, Willy’s Barbershop, Nice & Clean Laundromat, Mission Ink, and Clarion Alley all make appearances.  But where's the promised shots of Giants fans scarffing down burrito in Taqueria Cancun?  Or perhaps Tim Lincecum chowing down with Ganja Treats? And isn't that Russian Hill in one of the shots? Gross.

At least they're incorporating the old Sparks branding into their 2012 artwork:
