If this signature is so damn fake, why has the city been jackhammering around it for so many years? Hmm? HMM?!

I recall the signature being in Cole Valley proper instead of near the panhandle. Somewhere around Stanyan and Alma or Rivoli (My memory is not perfect though.)There was a write up of it in 1990's that included substantiating evidence and period photos. I searched SF Weekly, SF Guardian, and SF Chronicle but could not find the article since my search powers are limited.
