I think something can be sexY without being sexIST. That having been said, there is a definite lack of male objectification in SF murals. Where is the sexy man flesh? I demand more representation of gay gaze.
Regardless of whether or not you feel like it objectifies women, it's Mark Bode! Son of famed underground comic artist Vaughn Bode. Graf artists started using Bode's characters way back when the graf thing first started blowing up, and then after Vaughn died his son took over all of his characters and started painting them and using them in comics himself. The guy is a legend, and I love Bode's ladies.
And the character on the right is by Ras Terms, a completely different artist - so you can't really compare the two characters at face value as representative of male/female.

omg...someone on UA is touting the goodness and wonder of an artist who died BEFORE the 1980s even began??!! i am *shocked!*
; P
vaughn was a trailblazer in the underground comic scene and fun (or unfun) fact: he died of autoerotic asphyxiation.

Sexist or not, I think the whole mismatch of words and pictures on that wall is a bit of an eyesore.
what if the sexism is an authentic expression of Latino machismo culture?
