Discolandia to Become Pig n' Pie Place

Grub Street got the news:

A former Mission record shop looks to be on its way to becoming a restaurant called Pig and Pie, Grub Street discovers today. Partners Nathan Overstreet and Miles Pickering have put in for a liquor license at 2962 24th Street, the former Discolandia, which went out of business earlier this year.

It's been said before, and I'm going to say it again: they should just name joints like this “food.”

I think füd has a nicer ring to it.

They should just keep the name the same. I’d totally eat some pie at a place called Discolandia.

So, what kind of food are they gonna serve. I mean, with a name like that it could be anything…
But seriously, chicharones and peach cobbler is a combo I could get behind.

fuck another hipster place…shit people go away youre not liked here….get a clue

Sorry, hipsterhater.

Should we tear down everything and restore the lagoon and racetracks that were here? Or perhaps go old-old-school and return the land to the Yelamu Indians?

I live in the Mission, I pay property tax and help maintain a clean looking building in your neighborhood. I spend money at local long-lived establishments. I enjoy your parks, photograph your local street art, and tell my friends how much I enjoy the area. Sorry to ruin the place.

I’m kinda torn, I like the idea that the Mission is constantly changing, I like pie, I like pig based foods, dislike empty storefronts and know that shouting ‘gentrification’ or whatnot is just asinine.

On the other hand Discolandia had been there forever, and I doubt there could be a cuisine more cloyingly, transparently trendy than artisan pie and salted pork products?

Not saying I won’t eat there or enjoy the salami pie, but I fear I will feel like a classless rube doing it.
