Indigenous Animals of the Tragically Hip Mission District

Local artist Nina Asay has bunch of paintings of ironic cats on display tonight at HANGR16.  And if cats in glasses don't do it for you, there will be a bunch of free beer and music played by a man who has dedicated his DJ career to memorializing Patrick Swayze.  Yes sir, should be a good time.

So I what I am getting from this is that hipsters are pussies.

It’s a pretty cool show, in fact, two separate collections. The hipster wildlife was begun far before the tumblr blog. I’ve seen it grow upon the walls of her apartment since late last year. And many of the paintings are inspired by a number of her friends who will be in attendance at the show.

For the second collection LIFE & Lasers, she takes vintage marketing pieces and ads a little something (usually in color) that gives the piece a quirky resonance. Most of all they’re fun and something to get you talking.

I didn’t think there was any thing that could make pussies look unappealing and annoying. I stand corrected.

You paint a lot? I can tell by how quickly you wield your pithy quips negating someone’s work with such a cavalier manner, clearly someone who’s created something of your own in the past?
