Hot New Microhood: "Valencia Bottoms"

While on the topic of expensive fashion, The Bold Italic has been running wild with the naming new neighborhoods trend and recently dubbed the area around Valencia and 14th/15th as “Valencia Bottoms.”  I'm not exactly sure how they got that name, considering it's near the top of the street (perhaps because there are a lot of shops that sell pants? Valencia Gardens is home to the bottom segment of income earners?), however TBI asserts the two-block stretch is “going through a full-fledged renaissance” and becoming “becoming a destination unto itself.”  To further hype up the “new” microhood, The Bold Italic gives us a full tour of the hotest businesses on the block catering to the upwardly-mobile. Check it.

My blog is just as good as your blog. I can name a neighborhood too!

[maybe something better than Valencia Bottoms would be a good place to start]

I’m pretty sure “Valencia Bottoms” is somebody’s cragislist hookup ID. They might want to rethink that.

You bring the rubbers, I’ll bring the poppers!

How about FourBarrelandia?
Zeitgeistylvania?

Hipster Valencia clearly encompasses “Valencia Bottoms”.

Also, I like how they slyly claim to have invented the word “microhood” – ahem.

Apparently I’m just outside the confines of El Tonayense Flats, but I ain’t mad … a few months ago a friend & I designated the “microhood” bordered by 18th, Capp, 15th & Shotwell as the Whiz Triangle. Valencia Bottoms ain’t got nothin’ on the Whiz Triangle. On an unrelated note, the dark-haired guy in the middle is a total babe.

I’m not exactly sure how they got that name, considering it’s near the top of the street

Fuck, that’s what I’ve been wanting to know. I’m not against naming things but that’s a real dumb name. For a three-block area.
