The Pacific Pinball Museum: An Ideal Place to Squander a Saturday Afternoon

Since I spend about as much time in Alameda as I do sober, I had never heard of the Pacific Pinball Museum before.  Then hell froze over and a sidebar ad on Facebook told my friends and I to check the place out.  Being the pinball addict that I am, I might be a little biased in saying THIS PLACE FUCKING RULES.  Seriously, I spent 3 hours there and the only reason I wanted to leave was that my feet started hurting from standing up so long.  They have something like 90 pinball machines that you can play as much as you want for $15.  Best of all?  It's in Alameda, which is basically an Alcatraz for yupsters and pinball machines. It strikes me as a lovely place dump a body or get a blowjob behind the bleachers.  ANYWAYS.  There is a pinball machine about food fighting.  It even has dancing cacti (pictured below).  'nuff said.  Check it out.

True story: back in the day, there was a button shop/antique store in Alameda. I would go all the time because for some reason, they always had unbelievable stuff. Most of which was at a great price, but I was still too poor to buy. Best ever: a Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show ad banner, the kind you would stretch across a street, for like 300 bucks. Hand painted on canvas, circa what? 1800’s?

Its a great weird-ass town.

The pinball museum (aka Lucky Juju) used to only cost ten bucks, and just a few years ago they didn’t mind if you brought beer inside. Now its a bit more ‘spensive and they frown upon booze. These are the same people involved in the Pacific Pinball Expo which happens every year in San Rafael, which is a giant orgy of pinball occuring in that weird-ass Frank Lloyd Wright convention center.

Some people had a keg in there on Saturday and were drinking all over the place. Not saying you’re wrong, they were clearly having a special event and I didn’t try to bring in a 40 of Colt, but they clearly are not 100% against it.

We don’t frown on it. Lousy neighbors (who are now ghandi) called the ABC on us. Ruined a good time for all cuz of their new-found yuppy bullshit. Shined the spotlight on us so we decided to go museum. We are trying to get a beer license. It is the first and best pinball museum in the world where you can play the machines. And it is a non profit. Definitely deserves your support.
