Finally, an alphabetized list of places to get wasted and do blow with The Modern San Franciscan!

For those few of you who didn’t have something to say about the Modern San Franciscan, now’s your opportunity to get gratuitously whiny and butthurt over a Mike Giant drawing!

(as found on Kate’s Tumblr)

I’ll go first: To be honest, I can’t even hate on most of this. If I tried hard enough I could find something mean to say about all of these places (if you haven’t noticed, I’m really good at being mean, I think it’s why KevMo recruited me for this) but that still wouldn’t stop some of them from becoming my other living rooms. Even the Kezar, despite being a meetinghouse of the Fraternal Order of Dudebros, redeems itself with delicious burgers. My only complaint … where’s my fourth other living room, the Buddha Bar? That spot is on point.

Internet Haters, have at the comments section!

I have been to 32 of these bars. I don’t know if that means I should check in to AA or that I’m not trying hard enough.

brizz - ive got you beat at 34 of these bars and i don’t even go out anymore. seeing this made me feel better about not going out. at least at one point in my life i was socially active.

Brizz I got 42. I think you need to recount.

It’s a solid compendium. Hats off. I’m pleased that some of my C-List faves were included (Pig & Whistle, 101) but I’m more impressed by what was left out.

Isn’t the Red Room closed?

(P.S. only been to 13 of these places.)

I SMELL A BARCRAWL

Yeah the Red Room is Minx now. If he’s including closed places, the Transfer and Arrow Bar/Matador should also be up there.

34. And I like the graphic.

Ha… been to 32 myself. Practically learned to drink at Trad’r Sam.

I say replace Red Room* with Lucky 13.

*-Unless this is referring to the awesome Red Room in Santa Cruz.

When I first read through them I wasn’t paying that close attention and for some reason thought Ruby Room. I was thinking, yeah, holdin’ it down for Oakland!

It’s much more fun to do blow in San Francisco than it is in Oakland. Not to mention safer.

yes, the transfer… gone but not forgotten. and also, errr the Lexington Club. Yup im gay but some of my best friends are straight.

16, and I’ve been here a year… still got a way to go.

44. Where do I buy one of these?

visit his shop/gallery at divis and haight…opened up a few months ago…mike is a super sweet guy…very open to passerby.

Thanks! I’ll do that.

Sigh, only 18.

This poster will be valuable to Mission historians in 50 years.

TK, which 6 did you miss?

821
Aunt Charlie’s
Deco
Moby Dick
Royal Room

Wait, that’s only 5. I miscounted the first time through, if there are 50 total.

What’s the Royal Room, anyway? I’ve never heard of it.

why would this mike giant piece instigate the haters? seriously, what the hell are you talking about?

“if you haven’t noticed, I’m really good at being mean”

no, you’re not…incoherent yes, pseudo-snark yes, but mean, hell no…

i didn’t anticipate having to spell it out for people. i guess crediting readers with the ability to follow the bouncing ball passes for incoherence these days.

why might this instigate haters? this is san francisco, many people are territorial and possessive over bars and get whiny upon seeing “their” bars associated with bars they don’t like, or bars patronized by subcultures of people they don’t like. i also assumed that, as was the case with the “modern san franciscan,” that some people might find this pretentious.
