The 27-year-old [airport shuttle] driver picked up the suspect thinking he was just another scheduled pick-up on his route in the 1100 block of Bush Street about 3:55 a.m., police said.
When the driver got out to assist another passenger being picked up at Powell and O’Farrell streets, the suspect got into the driver’s seat and drove away with four other passengers still inside the van, one man, two women and an unknown victim, [Officer Albie Esparza] said. The driver jumped onto the siderail on the driver’s side of the van and rode about a block before jumping off, Esparza said
No need to worry about the passengers—they all bailed out of the moving van while it was “driving slowly.”

At first I was marveling at what this guy thought he was going to do with a stolen van full of passengers, then I realized that he actually did get away with it.
