Dolores Park Works Claims Responsibility For "No Smoking, No Alcohol" Signs

UPDATE: To avoid confusion, here is a direct link to their claim of responsibility.

UPDATE #2: Dolores Park Works has retracted their claim of responsibility.

They also snapped this rad photo of a late-night party by the shed.  I hope it didn't make them upset!

WHAT ART SHOW BRO

Hey, Kevin -

Could you give a better description of ‘claims responsibility’?

e.g., are these not official signs, and can they be removed?

Their claimed them as “our signs” on their flickr account. I looked at the signs myself and didn’t see any official markings on them, so I’m guessing they are just vandalism and can be removed.

Dolores Park Works did not put up the signs. You might try and ask them since you know all of them. Keep up the good work

I hate dealing with the drunk douchebag hipsters in the park. Does that make me “anti-fun”?

No, but your comment sounds like you are exaggerating or trolling.

Co-founder of Dolores Park Works here. We DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW SIGNS IN DP. We are just as upset by them as you are. As for your “proof” KevMo, we, Dolores Park Works, think of Dolores Park as OUR (all park patrons’ park) not our personal park. They are signs that we all have to see and that are in our park. We simply took a picture of the signs because we are going to do a blog post about them and keep all our photos on our Flickr site. We are not the NIMBY org that you keep trying to make us out to be. I’m personally trying to preserve your right to get high in the park. I just want you to take your crap home with you when you leave. Why don’t you cover the fact that we got porta-potties in the park so people don’t have to waste their time standing in line or advocated for safety improvements for 19th & Dolores so you don’t get run over? Get your facts straight. So much for journalistic integrity. Ask us next time.

Crystal,

Thanks for clearing that up. Thanks also for your efforts to make Dolores Park Clean and enjoyable.

Question remains, who did put up the unfriendly sign. Palacio???

Thanks solo. I’m trying to find out. It’s not Palacio. He’s no longer on DP’s beat. I have an idea but don’t want to say until it’s confirmed. We’ll post info on our website as we learn more.

DPW never claimed they put up the signs. You assumed they put up the signs. Remember what they say about assumptions and journalism?
A retraction would be nice.

You are correct. I came to the same conclusion. Only difference is I did not post it on my site. If I did I might consider a retraction. News organizations do it all the time. Just my two cents.

Uptown Alamanac is my site.

(Don’t tell the internet police that UA is vandalism and can be removed!)

On the topic if you should retract the headline ” DP Works claimed responsibility,” it depends if you want journalism or attitude. Not retracting does give more bad ass attitude. But actually it sounds like you took a different take on something they were not clear about.

Saying I spoke to someone at park department sound as an incomplete story. Say who. There could be plenty of gardeners etc, in rec and park who wouldn’t know who put up those signs. Or not.

Who in their right mind would consider this blog “journalism” in the first place?

And who cares who put up the sign? It’s not like it’s going to stop anybody.
