Good Dog of The Week: Coyote Captured at 18th and Capp

SF Appeal reports:

The coyote was found on Jan. 18 in a backyard near Capp and 18th streets in San Francisco's Mission District, wildlife services spokeswoman Rebecca Dmytryk said.

San Francisco Animal Control captured the coyote and impounded it, Dmytryk said. The coyote was transferred to Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley in San Jose on Jan. 22, she said.

At the time it was transferred, it was too stressed to examine and was allowed to rest, Dmytryk said.

The following day, it was given a thorough examination, where it was found to be infested with fleas and ticks, dehydrated and extremely thin, she said.

Apparently the coyote was 'disoriented' and now officials are seeking information as to how it got in our neck of the woods (my guess is he was hounding for hookers).

There have been coyotes in the city for years. Glad it didn’t come in my backyard 8 blocks away (this block too sealed off now, but use to get skunks and raccoons. )…cuz I would’ve stupidly invited it in for food and a bath. I got a coyote mix (unknowingly) from sf shelter.
11 years, a great funny big eared dog though yellow, looked just like ‘him’. But vicious as hell with other dogs. Did not take her to the park.
I don’t believe in ghosts, but if I saw that dog in my backyard, I would’ve broke down crying like a little sissy boy. I miss my coyote mutt so much.

Who would have thunk it?

So he came to town to be a “serial entrepreneur” and ended up eating garbage and pets out of back yards in the Mission. Haven’t we all been there?
