Harrison Street's Alliteration Van Derides "Garbage Pail Kidspeak"

For some reason, I decided to actually read what was on that written on that crazy van that's always parked at the Best Buy on Harrison.  Nothing too surprising.  Just a homeless person that hates the police, prisons, politicians, people who don't flush the toilet and KKKanSSaSS, yet loves Nadar, eating pussy, and the right to remain retarded.  Yawn.

But just when I had given up all hope of being entertained, I turned the corner to see a amck..wkt tag on the passenger's side.  Sure, it's just a boring scribble, but labeling it as “Garbage Pail Kidspeak” is anything but.

Fresh.  Innovative.  A timely mashup of Reagan-era memes and a fictional Orwellian language.

We can only hope that Local McNimbydouche brings this phrase into the lexicon of the everyday man.

PC LOAD LETTER

In staying with San Francisco's progressive tradition of non-violence, an area resident took it upon themselves to Sharpie the bejesus out of their crap printer.  As bats…, the taker of this fantastic photograph, said, “I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he called his problem into HP Support.”  I can only imagine the rage this person felt.  Calling up support, probably yelling about how the printer is a fantastic example at crappy product design and usability, and asking for a refund.  Then after 15 minutes of irate yelling, he walked past his baseball bat and handgun to reach for a marker.

For old times' sake:

Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner Mural The Best Goddamn Looney Tunes Mural I've Seen All Year

I know I throw around a lot of superlatives when it comes to graffiti, but this mural truly is the jam.  Sure, I'm probably biased because Road Runner was my favorite cartoon character growing up (I mean he could beep and run through walls, what's not to love?), but I don't really care.  Anyway, feel free to check this thing of beauty out on Mission at 15th before Warner Bros. sues the building owner into oblivion.

"Love in the Lower Haight" Mural Project Still Going Strong

If you haven't heard about the mural project going on at Haight and Laguna, the Examiner had a pretty good writeup a couple of weeks ago:

Called “Love in the Lower Haight,” the mural by the Lower Haight Mural Collective will stretch 100 feet up Haight Street from Laguna Street and 75 feet on Laguna.

The mural is meant to increase the identity of the neighborhood and showcase local artistic talent on a wall that is often covered in graffiti, said Thea Selby, president of the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighborhood Association.

“We are different than surrounding neighborhoods,” Selby said. “We’re heavily invested in art. Visitors will be able to see this and we will be able to bring the community together.” [full story]

I really don't see how their being “heavily invested in the arts” makes them different than surrounding 'hoods, you know, like the Mission or the TL.  But hey, more murals in The City is a great thing, and the pics uploaded yesterday by “saucemeisterq” indicate that this mural is shaping up quite nicely.
