Dr. Teeth Gobbles Up Neighboring Bar

Fans of getting wasted and playing cornhole rejoiced yesterday, as news broke that the owners of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem had taken over the recently vacated restaurant next door (and its attendant liquor license) and will be opening up a new spot tentatively called “The Buffalo Club.”

Eater reported on what the expansion means for the Mission:

Yup, that’s right, the bro-bar kings (also of Bullitt, Tonic, Lightning Tavern, Soda Popinski, Wild Hare, and the now-shuttered Royal Tug Yacht Club and Rebel) are increasing their foothold in the Mission. Their takeover of Assaf’s roomy, two-story restaurant space, with a tentative moniker of The Buffalo Club, is intended to complement both Dr. Teeth and the neighborhood; it comes with a prized full liquor license. […]

Given their 7/8 track record of successful bars and the continuing popularity of their current formula (wings, sliders, cheap beer, Fernet and Fireball on tap), it seems that we could soon be seeing a lot more of this type of establishment (and its patrons) in the Mission.

It has to be noted that the proposed name for the new establishment, “The Buffalo Club,” is an odd choice for a spot that will without a doubt be responsible for hoards of Marina bros flocking to the Mission. But I guess it does fit nicely into the long history of artisan white people reclaiming the buffalo.

“a spot that will without a doubt be responsible for hoards of Marina bros flocking to the Mission”

A little late to complain about that, don’t you think?

meh, dr teeth has been in the mission longer than you have

For someone who places such value on getting there first, you really should come up with a more original “insult.”

That’s his argument, ‘oh no the marina people will start to come to the mission.’  Jesus its 2014, do you even know where you live?  They’ve been coming here literally since the late 90s, and poured in since the early 2000s.  Move to Detroit or whatever, I dont care

BUT WILL THERE BE WINGS?!?!?!

wings wings wings wings wings wings wings wings wings wings wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings

Also, buried in this story about weird fish  is the fact that Specchio is also closing and also sold their <striketrhough> soul </strikethrough> to Bullitt Broheems.

So more places for the douchebag to flourish in his newly adopted eastern refuge of the mission.

For accuracy in the title, Platinni / Specchio were much more restaurant, with a bar up front, then a “Bar” as the headlines states.  Yeah, I read that the rest of the post refers to it as a bar.

Did you also see that right down the block on Mission the long empty “quick pic market” across from the Sycamore is posted to become a brew pub, and that they’ve already started the interior work??

Ugh.  The Douchebags Spreadeth.

The back patio of Dr. Teeth is a great place to hang out and play acoustic instruments with pals — they don’t pump music or obnoxious TV back there. I’ve done it many times in the past 2 years. I love that joint. Their food goes beyond wings and tots, too; they make some really good salads. When they opened, the Cobb was only $7, which was an insane deal, but it’s now $10. Still good stuff though.
