7x7's SanFranlandia can SanFranBlowMe

OMG WHAT? 7x7 has a post up calling for submissions for SanFranlandia, which is their way of ripping off Portlandia and making me want to murder them all at once!

This comment from some delightful person named “fat wanda” who needs to be my bff is right on:

Really, 7x7? How about a parody of the Marina? Or the FiDi? Or culture that you're actually part of? Because that MIGHT be funny? Maybe?

You're not vegan, you're not bike culture, you don't know these people, and so you're attempts are just lame and embarrassing.

Exactly! You can't make fun of veganism, buying local, composting, backyard bee keeping, brewing kombucha in a bathtub, and plaid shirted bro's who look they're about to go prospect for gold because that's not who YOU are. There are plenty of websites and blogs that can and already do it better than you ever could. So, knock it off.

You're the pretty girl. You're like Natalie Portman complaining that women aren't allowed to be beautiful and funny*. No, lady, it's just that you are not funny. Know who you are! Shit, funny women aren't cast all the time because they're not pretty, why not help get them roles**? Kristen Schaall should be in everything, and there are a million more like her. Anyway, tangent. Point is: embrace who you are, 7x7, and run more stories about sample sales and recipes for trampatini's. Or, if you want to parody something, why not all the boots on Chesnut street? That's something you know a lot about.

Annnnd: One more time, in case you forget, THIS IS YOU:

*And you know her idea of funny is like, a beautiful woman farting on a date. HILARIOUS.

**Shit, bring them some rolls too, they probably hungry! Not working and shit because they're not pretty. I mean, JESUS.

Uptown Almanac is telling someone they’re not supposed to make fun of people who are different from them?

To be fair, I’m just a ‘frat boy’ wearing American Apparel.

nah, that would be an improvement.

Thanks for the advice!

they are missing the point of Portlandia entirely and their san franlandia thing isn’t funny. they should stick to what they do best. I actually read 7x7 and when they do their thing, they’re actually GOOD at it.

This is the same magazine that listed Chipotle as a legitimate SF burrito. What else would you expect from them?

What the shit is 7x7? People are always taking about it like food poisoning. If that means it’s some kind of new deep-fried opiate burrito, I’m all over it. Seriously, where can I get this burrito?

yeah, i think people can make fun of whoever they want. But beware, you cross a member of the Bike Culture Clan you could get your shit beat down, homie. Also, does Laura personally know the editor of that 7x7 piece? Is this some kind of personal vendetta? I’m so confused.

Why don’t people make fun of hunters point more?

To sum up:
1. Hipsters can make fun of hipsters.
2. Hipsters can make fun of yuppies.
3. Yuppies should make fun of yuppies.
4. Yuppies must NEVER make fun of hipsters.

Both parties should just get together at the Curiosity Shoppe, eat cupcakes and forget their differences.

And have a gangbang!

Hey Kevin by gangbang do you mean a big brawl or something pornographic worthy of 4chan porn?

No one lives in FiDi.

Really, Uptown Almanac? How about bitching about Mission Mission? Or Burrito Justice? Or culture that you’re actually part of? Because that MIGHT be funny? Maybe?

You’re not rich, you’re not pretty, you don’t know these people, and so you’re attempts are just lame and embarrassing.

First off, who even uses the term “yuppies” anymore - really? Is this what we’re calling people who are successful? Hilarious! Also funny is that if anyone actually reads the 7x7 article they will see that the Chipotle burrito was chosen as a *joke* to try and throw the judges off (this was a BLIND tasting and the judges are not people who work for the magazine) to see if they would *gasp* choose it over a burrito from the Mission. It’s not like 7x7 was trying to claim Chipotle made great burritos or anything. They put it in to be funny. I don’t get why some of the people on this thread are so anti-7x7….it’s just kind of weird. Why take the magazine and all of this so personally?

Um, yeah. Isn’t that cover from, like, December 2003? 7x7 has changed a lot, and your points are moot. Also, I don’t think they were bashing vegans. 7x7 is really good at embracing all parts of the city and as such, they poke fun of themselves all the time. Wasn’t that the whole point of their blog post? I mean, for all you know, a vegan wrote that blog post. Learn to laugh at yourself a little, k?
