SHOCKER: The Chronicle's New Foodie Website Tastes Like Shit

The design looks like it is a hybrid of 1999 meets crappy 2006 web 2.0 standards, the RSS feed gives you a two sentence teaser (no photos even!) so you don’t even know if you want to read the post, the homepage is equally useless (for a blog, this is beyond weak), and the entire time you get the sense they are trying to drive pageviews, not content you want to read.

When Paolo quit Eater, I actually wondered if the Chronicle was going to create an Eater/Grubstreet/SFoodie killer.  Should have known better.  Is anyone actually going to read this?  Doubt it, considering there are countless SF foodie websites that are worth reading and, more importantly, easy on the eyes and RSS readers.  What a waste of writing talent.

haha rough

Love it.

Paolo is awesome but the Chronicle will always suck no matter what, everything they do turns to shit and they fire people rather than make a good paper. I love reading it with AdBlocker and not buying it in the newsracks.

Recycling bins at Bart stations are always a good place to get your copy of the Chron.

Paolo having a blog again is definitely a good thing.

But this post is the worst piece of shit ever posted on the internet. Who came up with the idea of doing profiles of Yelpers? It’s even dumb by SFGate standards.

i do love paolo, in a creepy way that you can love someone purely because of the way they served you drinks that one time at a benefit awkwardly with a “golly gee I’m not quite sure what I’m doing here” grin on their face. but this layout is really terrible.
